Our kids really stepped it up this weekend.

We were ecstatic last year when, as South Cronulla SC, we finished 17th and accumulated 765 points. This year we have performed even better.

At the end of this meet our team had amassed 6 Gold,4 Silver and 5 Bronze medals and our highest ever pointscore total of 823.. Again, 9 swimmers contributed to our pointscore tally which is remarkable as it is so difficult to achieve a top 10 finish in NSW - and 4 swimmers won medals.

Our swim club is now ranked 15th  in NSW and finished ahead of many of NSW's most highly regarded clubs. Every club that finished higher in the pointscore had more swimmers entered into the meet. This is a seriously awesome result. This result is a huge credit to our swimmers and coaches! Thank you!

Whilst the final wrap will come after a big sleep (and the 400 Free results from Sate Open need to be added to this meets results) here are some special mentions.

Andrew Kennedy -5 Gold medals, 1 Bronze medal and 11/13 Top 10 finishes

Joel Walker - 4 Silver medals,1 Bronze medal, 9/9 PB swims 8/9 Top 10 placings + highest place 11yr old in 12/u 200 IM (11th in the event)

Jake Baggaley - 1 Gold medal. 1 Bronze medal, 7/7 PB swims 6/7 Top 10 placings

Matt Spence - 2 Bronze medals, 5/5 PB swims, 5/5 Top 10 placings

Marcus Baggaley -2/2PBs, biggest PB of the meet (5 sec 100 Fly)

Jarrod Mazurkiewicz - Rookie of the meet, 3/6 Top10 placings, cheered for his team all weekend even before they got onto the blocks!

John Woods -  3 Top 10 finishes and the person to go to if you need a hug

18/u Boys relay team- achieved Top 10 in the Medley and Free relays even though we had 2x16 yrs, 1x15 yrs and 1x13 yrs swimmers! That is a seriously fantastic effort!

Chris Hoare -most km's travelled just to swim at State and not let his relay team down and achieved 2PBsand 2/2 Top 10 individual placings

Rebecca Kennedy - just missed the top10 in her 50 free and is still the fastest female swimmer our club has ever had!

Tyler Nott and Nicholas Hards - our fantastic 9 yr olds who Q for their first State in the 50m Fly

Jarrod Bell - swimming at his first State meet

Elise Newman - swam even though she has been sick forever

Jo Driscoll-  Butterfly Queen but she swam her best race in her 100m free split for the relay team

Ebony Green, Georgie Woods, Jedd Felice (even though he was sick)and Jack Harrison (fantastic relay splits) who all came in so that our club could field relay teams - thank you all so much!

Jenny Noel -Our coach who ran the show the entire weekend without missing a beat - all the swims are recorded and much video analysis has already taken place , all the splits are worked out, and once she gets some sleep she willl undoubtedly get to work on what we need to fix........bet you all can't wait!
