5 NCAQ swimmers will compete at these championships - Andrew, Matt, Elise, John and Jake B
Day 1 - Andrew wins his 1st (and also NCAQ's) State Open medal with a Bronze (PB) in the 200IM. This was after Jake, John and Matt had all swum 4, 3 and 5 sec PBs respectively in the earlier heats. 14 yr old Jake blitzed his heat in a winning time only .5 off a National Open Q time! Elise swam her 2nd fastest 50m Breast and was under the 36 sec again. Andrew swam a 100m Back PB only to be edged into 4th place by the late inclusion of Ashley Delaney who swam in the first heat. Matt finished the night with a solid 50m Free swim out of lovely lane 0.
Day 2 - Andrew continued on his amazing way and won another 2 Bronze medals today. In the end he picked up the bronze trifecta in the 100, 200 and 400IM! Andrew was also a finalist in the 200 Breast and 400 Free (both PBs).
A major highlight of the day was when both Jake and John took huge chunks off their 200 Breaststrokes to qualify for next months Open SC Nationals in Brisbane. This means NCAQ now have a team of 5 for this meet.Jake also swam an 8 sec PB to finish 8th in the 400IM!
Our team finished in 24th place - up from 28th in 2009.
