10 swimmers - Andrew Kennedy, Tim Boland, John Woods, Jake Baggaley, William Boland, Oliver Hoare, Jack Harrison, Nicholas McRae, Elise Newman, Rebecca Kennedy - attended these championships with outstanding results. 34 swims were PBs and our swimmers won 9 Gold, 4 Silver and 10 Bronze medals. 3 meet records were broken with Jake taking out the 14 yrs 100 Breast and Andrew the 15/o 200 Breast and 200IM.
Jake and Jack had a brilliant day with not only a 100% PB record for the day but also 7 medals between them and many new representtaive Q times. Jake is now within a few seconds of his first Australian Open Q time (SC in the 200 Breast. Oliver Hoare also had a 100% PB day.
Other swimmers to feature in the medals were Oliver, John, William, Nicholas and Elise. William recorded a huge PB in his 100 Free.
Andrew swam several PBs including a duel in the 100Im with former Australian World Representative Stephen Parkes (Sydney University). Andrew won the Gold medal with an impressive 57.71. Rebecca continues her great return to competition following her elbow injury (the wire was only removed a few weeks ago).
A great moment occurred early in the meet when NCAQ swimmers - Andrew, John and Jake - took out the trifecta in the 13/o 400mIM with all PB swims. This is a great result in the midst of heavy training and, on the basis of todays results, we look forward to the representative season ahead with this inspiring team of swimmers we have.
Good luck to our 12/u swimmers next week as we are sure that they will give us plenty to write about.
