Andrew Kennedy 17 yrs, Matt Spence 17 yrs, Tim Boland 18 yrs, John Woods 15 yrs, Jake Baggaley 14 yrs, and Joel Walker 12 yrs have qualified to represent our club at the pinnacle of age swimming in Australia.
Our Australian Age 2010 got off to a great start with 2 swimmers on Day 1with Andrew and Matt swimming 3 swims, 100% PBs and all swims improving on entry placings.
Day 2 saw Andrew have acheive another personal milestone - his first Australian Age Bronze medal - in the 400 IM in a 5 sec PB swim. This is also the first Australian Age medal for our swim club ! Congratulations!
Day 3 - after the excitement of the night before inevitably comes the morning after :(
Day 4 - Huge Day!!!!! Andrew qualifies for 200IM Final and John swims a 3 sec PB to qualify in equal 9th position for the 400IM Final - or so we thought! As a result of an overturned DQ in his event John then found himself in a swim-off situation in equal 10th! Team mates who were still in the carpark hurried back in to support John who swam 1 PB again to claim the 10th position. Matt swam a PB in his 100 Fly and Joel swam his 2nd fastest 200m Fly time - in only his 3rd swim over the distance!
Day 5 - Jake B has his turn at the 400 IM and swims a 100m Fly at the start to swim a 3 sec PB in the event. John swims a 1 sec Pb in teh 200m Breast after taking it out in a 100m Breast PB.
Day 6 - Matt and Andrew swam 100m Free PBs and John completed his week with a 200m IM PB. Our 18/u boys finished in 13th place with a PB swim in the 4x100m Medley relay.
NCAQ finished the week with a placing just outside the top 100 clubs in the country (102nd)! Thank you to our coach Jenny who was there all week and to Elise who is such an essential member of the team even though she just missed her Q time this year. Thank you also to Terry, Neil, Leigh and Carol for keeping the home pool program going in Jen's absence. Thank you also to our teammates and families who suported our swimmers with all their best wishes through the week.
